You might have noticed that things have changed. We are currently upgrading and updating the website.
Things look different here at the home of the Linn-Johnson Local Food Task Force. The Task Force has finished its task of developing our strategic local food system plan for our region. Since 2007 when the Task Force researched and identified the top 10 issues of the local food system in Linn and Johnson Counties they realized that in order to achieve their vision as a hub for the regional food system they needed to develop a coalition across counties.
This coalition has recently been named the Iowa Corridor Food and Agriculture Coalition when we were established as an Iowa Regional Food Systems Working Group. This coalition reaches to every arable acre and community within our region. At the core of the region is Linn and Johnson Counties, the second fastest growing area in Iowa, surrounded by the foundation of the region; Iowa, Benton, Tama, Poweshiek, Washington, Cedar, and Jones counties.
We will be establishing a 10 Member Advisory Board and 6 sub-committees to oversee the implementation of our strategic food system plan.
